Destination of the Month: Bologna
The university town Bologna in the north of Italy is capital city of the province Bologna and of the Emilia-Romagna region. Thanks to its wonderful and well preserved old town with a huge number of medieval towers as well as fascinating churches, squares and palaces, Bologna was chosen as European Capital of Culture in 2000. With the popular “Università di Bologna”, the city is home of Europe’s oldest university, which was built in 1088 and is popular with students from all over the world until now. Moreover, Bologna is well known for its delicious specialties like Tortellini or Mortadella.
Also concerning the economy, Bologna plays an important role within Italy, especially in the automotive and motor sports industry. The sports car producer Maserati for instance was originally established in Bologna and the famous motor bike producer Ducati Motor Holding is located in Bologna as well.
