Our day begins with a visit to Monteriggioni, the ancient crown-shaped fortress that was once on Italy’s old 100 lire currency. The fortress’s walls, which date back to the 13th century, are endowed with 14 towers that Dante likened to the Giants of Inferno in his Divine Comedy.

After a brief tour of the city we will continue to Siena.

As the historical enemy of Florence, many battles were fought between the two cities of Siena and Florence. Siena is considered to be the medieval and gothic jewel of Tuscany, having been left relatively unchanged by the Renaissance period.

We will walk you through the city’s main street and to one of the most breathtaking squares in Italy, Piazza del Campo.

This Piazza is the home of the Palio Horse, held twice a year on July 2nd and August 16th. Take in the history and energy of the city, and enjoy free time to walk around until lunch.

Our day continues with a trip to Val d’Orcia, another jewel in Tuscan territory and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.

Later we will drive to Montalcino, which from its hill dominates the 1,500 hectares of Brunello vineyards that have made the region world-famous. Here we will stop for a traditional lunch in local restaurant (trattoria).

Our last stop will be in a local wine cellar where we will taste the renowned Brunello of Montalcino, which finds its place among the finest Italian DOCG wines. We will visit the wine cellar and taste some typical local products.
